A thoughtful design response begins with questions. At Weiss A+U, we design institutional buildings, residences, and many other types of projects that share one thing in common: each is a thoughtful response to a specific set of circumstances. Whether the objective is to design a learning environment for Indigenous urban youth, revitalize a heritage building by revealing a long-obscured vaulted ceiling, minimize a laneway house’s footprint to preserve a mature tree’s roots, or explore innovative custom modular construction to achieve efficiency and sustainability, we begin by asking questions—and then find a resourceful way to rise to the challenge. Each project we deliver is a customized response to what our clients tell us about their priorities, programming needs, aspirations, and budget – and that’s why our projects don’t all look the same. Founded in 2012, Weiss Architecture + Urbanism Limited is led by principal Kevin Weiss, who brings more than two decades of experience to the practice. Weiss A+U’s expertise spans brick masonry and modular construction, innovative custom modular systems, low-embodied-carbon strategies, optimized energy performance, and the careful use of natural light and site potential to create buildings that are efficient, enduring, and meaningful.
