Architectural Excellence : With a growing number of American troops returning from their tours of duty, the military base at Ft. Meade had a need for space to provide assistance to these soldiers. The building would serve as the base for the Army Substance Abuse Program, whose mission is to strengthen the overall fitness and effectiveness of the Army’s workforce, conserve manpower, and enhance the combat readiness of soldiers. Chugach World Services chose a modular office building as the solution to provide useful services and resources to our troops. The permanent space features JCAHO compliant offices, custom kitchen with counter tops and cabinetry, a specimen storage room with a custom Dutch door, and a conference room for presentations. Vinyl siding was installed so the building would maintain base standards and looks.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : A minimum of R-38 insulation in the ceiling space, R-19 insulation in the walls, and R-30 insulation below the sub-floor was provided. Energy efficient HVAC units as well as programmable thermostats were used to provide the end user the ability to save on energy consumption. Environmental site work was completed through our partnering with the general contractor, Chugach World Services. The accelerated design and manufacturing, coupled with simultaneous site preparation, enabled the buildings to be open and operational sooner, providing a much-needed service to our heroes.
