Architectural Excellence : In July of 2012, ATCO Structures & Logistics began replacing all modular units in Barge Landing Lodge to provide a modern, upgraded home away from home. All 49-man dormitories were replaced with Jack & Jill and executive rooms to increase the comfort and privacy for guests. The new Barge Landing Lodge consists of 830 Jack & Jill and 630 executive rooms. Each room has an LCD TV, DVD player, satellite TV and high-speed internet. The kitchen, dining room and core were all upgraded with sleek yet durable interiors. The dining room features a full coffee station for guests to enjoy. The recreation room was fully upgraded, and a new sitting area and boot room were added.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The lodge is equipped with high-efficiency furnaces throughout. The arctic corridors reduce heat escaped through open doors as guests enter and exit their dormitory blocks. Although Barge Landing Lodge has the feel of a permanent lodge, it was designed to be completely relocatable should changes need to be made to the units or the lodge expanded.
