Architectural Excellence : The foyer wall finish is faux marble with Greek columns adorning the corners. The vaulted ceiling is accentuated by crown molding. A nursery and classroom are on one side of the foyer with restrooms on the other side near the custom kitchen. The flooring in this area is ceramic tile with custom wood cove base. The entry doors are stained fiberglass with a light kit and sidelights. The sanctuary seats 300 and contains a sound system and custom light feature. A 12 ft. ceiling height was achieved in this area by eliminating the suspended ceiling and enhancing the clearspan trusses with special light fixtures and painting the ceiling black. This allows better acoustics to be achieved. The reception area and private offices contain a granite reception counter and custom carpet. The exterior is striking with colored stucco, stone embellishments and the church’s logo added above the entry. Wall mounted HVACs are screened from view. The building height is enhanced to 16 ft. by parapet walls.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Initially our customer was interested in a brand new building, however upon learning of the availability of this used unit, they decided to take advantage of the exceptional bargain and purchase this building. The greatest cost savings for our customer was in the ability to utilize a used structure to achieve their vision for a church. Since this was a relatively new unit, the customer was able to utilize the five ton Bard wall mounted HVAC units, which added to their savings. The installation employed a perimeter stem wall of solid grouted CMU. This allowed a pit set up to better suit the needs of the church. The crawl space adds to the efficiency of the HVAC system and allows for access to all plumbing and piping. A polyurethane roof coating was added to enhance the R-30 roof insulation. Effective yield on the roof insulation is R-40 with the roof with this addition. Stucco and stone bring the project together and add to the visual experience for the passerby.

Technical Innovation : With planning and an ear to the needs of the congregation of this church, a beautiful and functional “Spiritual Home” was created with a lower budget than a site built structure could have been. Innovative features include: the use of custom wall finishes, enhancing the exterior height of the building with the use of a parapet, using stucco and natural stone to create a pleasing elevation experience, adding a functional kitchen, leaving open trusses in the sanctuary for added ceiling height, fire sprinklers to meet the “assembly” use and the re-design and re-submittal to the State Manufactured Housing Division for the change in occupancy.
