Additional Info
Award Winner : Modern Building Systems, Inc.
Architectural Excellence : This building is used as a computer laboratory/flight simulator testing facility as part of the customer’s defense contract for the new, fully composite fighter jet program. The structure is all steel, non-combustible construction, with a fire sprinkler system adding to the overall safety. Since the customer had to install 2 miles of data cabling to support their testing equipment, the building was designed with computer flooring to run the wiring below and then extend outside as umbilical cords to connect the building to the planes for data transfer.
Due to strict DOD security regulation interior pictures on site are not available for this building.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The building was installed within 45 days after receipt of order. Modular construction was the only construction method available to meet that very important timeline for the customer in order for them to fulfill their contract with the defense department.

Technical Innovation : Due to the large amount of computer equipment inside the building, overheating was a main customer concern. In addition to the mechanical units for general building conditioning purposes, two 50-ton cooling towers, were installed to pump cool air under the computer floor to keep the equipment cool.
