Architectural Excellence : This building was designed to be multi-functional for this remote winery location. A team of three needed a structure in which to allow space for office and testing purposes, as well as allow for routine meetings for the full site team and visitors. While a single wide, the building was designed to be 14’ wide and with an increase in the ceiling to 9’ to create a more open feel within. A reverse color scheme of a light tan wall to complement the white flooring and ceiling finishes resulted in an eye pleasing simple look that offered warmth.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The higher quality galvanized aluminum access systems were chosen to improve life expectancy and future maintenance requirements. Tack board product was specified on the interior walls to maximize use of wall spaces. Windows were strategically placed to provide needed vantage points, as well as maximize the natural light available. Light colors were chosen throughout to increase natural light reflectivity. Cabinet space was built in by the manufacturer to allow for the customer to more readily move in once the local use permit was obtained. Overall, this building was designed with the end use and furnishings placement in mind, to build specifically and only the dimensions actually needed on site.

Technical Innovation : The flooring was upgraded to an Armstrong Medintech sheet vinyl to withstand wear and tear due to lab and testing uses, as well as provide a product that could easily withstand surface contact with wine products and byproducts. Wall and floor data box locations were carefully planned to meet the needs of the data providers and the ceiling was installed room to room to improve sound efficiency. Due to specific needs during peak meeting times, the customer required a larger restroom to accommodate a urinal and storage cabinetry, in addition to the typical restroom fixtures. The access system layout allowed for team members to enter from two sides and multiple directions to complement actual foot traffic.
