Architectural Excellence : The agricultural sector’s reliance on the employment of foreign workers for the duration of the growing season is rapidly increasing. To hire workers from outside of Canada, employers are required to provide housing and Britco’s Staff Quarters have been designed specifically to meet those temporary housing needs. This product was exactly what the client required so, after purchasing four units in 2006, they ordered an additional two units in 2007 and two more in 2008.

Each building provides sleeping accommodations, a fully-equipped kitchen and eating area as well as washroom facilities. Each of the three bedrooms contains two captain beds with storage drawers, two closets, a desk and chair. The kitchen features custom-millwork cabinets and quality appliances including stacking washer/dryer.

Occupied Date : 4/1/2008

Project Location City : Kelowna

Project Location State Name : BC

Technical Innovation : The building is heated and cooled with a high efficiency, in-floor ducted forced-air furnace and AC condenser. The plumbing fixtures are low-flow for reduced water consumption thereby reducing the amount of waste water into the septic system. The kitchen range hood is a high capacity, ultra-low noise model with heat sensing technology to automatically increase output if excessive heat is sensed.

Total Square Feet : 1296

Cost Energy Effectiveness : These buildings are a very cost-effective housing solution for the agricultural sector as they can be relocated during the off-season or to other properties as operational requirements change. Because they are built off site, there is no impact on the land or the company during construction.
