Architectural Excellence : One modular unit (19) floors make up the total of 15,552 sq. ft. of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Centers new Child Development Center. The CDC provided a very timely solution to the significant need for additional child care facilities at the MCAGCC in Twentynine Palms, CA. Children of our Marines were being asked to seek alternative child care options due to space restrictions. Icon answered the call. Within months the Marine’s had a fully functional CDC with a commercial kitchen, outdoor shaded play equipment, and lots of indoor play/learning space. The new building created additional space for infants in the nursery and toddlers. The modular building included modern, age-specific classrooms and playgrounds designed specifically to the needs of infants through preschool age children.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Icon Construction’s modular buildings meet or exceed all current energy codes. Sustainability begins with Icon’s centrally located U.S. manufacturing plant. The 65,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility utilizes an abundance of natural lighting and other energy saving technologies. Materials utilized in Icon modular buildings include recycled steel, recycled carpet, recycled lumber, LED lighting and double-paned low-E windows as well as various other products. In addition, unused materials are recycled. Icon Construction’s modular manufacturing process allows us to provide a cost-effective modular building solution by managing time spent on construction and by controlling other factors like labor and material costs.

This was accomplished via the addition of numerous windows and pencil light doors along the playground side of the building.
