Free COVID Testing Sites

Architectural Excellence : Four (4) temporary testing sites were needed to help meet the actionable response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Using four (4), 8x8 guard shacks was a unique solution to rapidly deploy these buildings as they are large enough for 2 people and provide electrical, cooling and heating. This solution created the ideal space to place exterior signage so the building purpose could be clearly identified and perform testing in a climate controlled environment, with ample room for equipment and supplies. The guard shacks were set up on a skid frame, with interior floor joists at 2x6 ft, with 16in centers and a double top plate. The exterior walls were 2x4x8 ft, with 16in centers and a double top plate as well. The exterior door measured at 36x80in with a windowpane and six (6) 30x42in frame windows were installed on the three (3) exterior walls.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Using skid frames cut costs and time for the client and was beneficial for rapid delivery, setup and dismantle in the future.

Technical Innovation : Faced with the problem of rapid creation and installation of four (4) COVID testing sites, skid frame guard shacks were used to overcome time and budget limitations. These testing sites exceeded the needs of the customer and consist of R-13 insulation in the walls and R-19 in the roof. The Exterior consisted of 29-gauge exterior siding and a rubber roof to stabilize the solution, should it face inclement weather.
