Architectural Excellence : The FSC International Project is located far Northern Russia (region).
A 150 person 3 storey camps met the growing trend in temporary workforce housing by leading away from institutional type dormitories and heading towards a more exclusive type of aesthetically pleasing facility, but also offers amenities equal to higher rated camps. We also put a lot of work into providing a home away from home. This was accomplished by utilizing every possible modern convenience that mimics a person’s home life as well as installing finishing materials to provide a sense of comfort and ease that is aesthetically pleasing. We also put some final touches to accommodation the Russian style living and adapting our design to adhere to their culture. We accomplished this but enlarging the corridors and making the roof higher as they tend to have in their homes. Along with some unique patterns and designs in the corridors and stairwells that are native to the Russian culture.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The most important criteria for the operation of the facility is 90 % factory completion that includes all system testing and sign off. This is especially important given the geographical location of the camps final destination. With no access to site by truck or boat most of the year, we designed this to have easy onsite installation as there are harsh working conditions and labor is at a premium cost. The roofing and corridors where designed for a quick drop and connection on site. All mechanical, plumbing and electrical fixtures are chosen for their low volume and low energy use abilities. Essentially, the low volume and low energy fixtures limit and control the client need to reload on natural resources. The erection process at site is reduced to minimum due to quick connection.

The entire facility is structurally supported on steel frame, which serve a permanent foundation for the facility. This foundation also allows access to and mechanical or electrical that run in cased below the structure. The camp was designed with custom lifting eyes in the corners of each unit for rapid installation. The camp has heavy duty insulation as the location is extremely remote and out of reach for most of the year. This added insulation also consisted of using a heavy duty cold form steel for the frame. The entire camp is equipped with internet network, telephone and satellite TV system.
