Gold Complex
Additional Info
Award Winner : Modern Building Systems, Inc.
Architectural Excellence : This complex is configured out of 6 independently standing buildings that are connected by enclosed breezeways and connecting corridors. 12 modules plus one panelized section are intended to blend in with other existing structures on the campus, which is exclusively built modular. The building that includes the 14-foot panelized walls was built as a floorless structure, to house 2 complete TV production studios. The space restrictions on site made it necessary to angle the buildings in their present configuration.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : This school district strictly uses modular construction for all their administrative buildings to demonstrate their prudent use of public money. This structure in particular was about one third less expensive than a stick built structure would have been.
The complete project took less than 60 days from start to finish, which allowed the district occupancy in time for necessary TV productions.

Technical Innovation : The TV production studio required specialized heating and cooling systems in order for the equipment to stay cool and temperature controlled. A “Blue Screen” was built directly into the wall. Stage lighting associated with the studios was installed, including the pipe and track grid work to support the lights, cameras, audio equipment and curtain walls. The building also had to have multiple cable trays installed to handle the wiring from the studios to the various offices utilized by production editors. Out of the ordinary power requirements had to be accommodated to handle all audio and video control panels.
