High School Restroom & Concession Building
Additional Info
Award Winner : Blazer Industries, Inc.
Architectural Excellence : This building was designed to meet the need for a concession stand and restroom facilities for a new school sports complex. The choice to go with CMU split-face block walls and a metal roof, was driven by the schools desire to match the construction materials used on the rest of the school expansion project and have a facility that could handle high usage with minimal maintenance requirements.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Energy efficiency was not part of the design criteria as this is an unheated spring, summer and fall use-only structure. By using modular construction methods to build this building, the owner was able to get a facility that would meet their needs in time for school opening at a substantial savings in cost, vs. what the site general contractor quoted for a similar building built on site.

Technical Innovation : We designed and built this building to provide a structure that could hold up to high usage with minimal maintenance. The 22-gauge corrugated metal roofing was selected because the profile would provide more resistance to denting from foul balls than typical standing seam profiles and the CMU block walls and stainless steel restroom fixtures used provide for a higher level of vandal resistance.
