Architectural Excellence : Due to enrollment changes Houston Independent School District (HISD) decided to close one of their local high schools and transfer the students to another existing school within the district. In order to have space for all the students at the start of the 2014 school year, HISD needed almost 13,000 square feet of additional space. M SPACE was able to meet this with 8 pre-leased classroom buildings and 1 pre-leased restroom building. By taking advantage of pre-leased buildings that were available for immediate delivery M SPACE was able to complete the project in less than 60 days.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Utilizing the parking lot as the location for the modular buildings saved the customer a substantial amount of time and money. No civil engineering was needed and the project was able to be completed sooner. The customer was also able to save money by running all utilities from the existing high school to the modular buildings. Everything connects directly into the high school’s existing electrical panel.

Technical Innovation : The school district was working with a very short time frame and in order to expedite the project the classroom and restroom buildings were set on a fenced in asphalt parking lot. Once the buildings were in place, aluminum decks, ramps, stairs and covered walkways were installed. The covered walkways connect to the existing school.
With pre-leased buildings, the entire building is ‘recycled’. Using recycled buildings avoided the unnecessary use of energy and materials required for a new building and left a minimal impact on the environment.
