Husky Sunrise Operation Lodge
Additional Info
Award Winner : ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd.
Architectural Excellence : The lodge’s core building includes glass pane doors, wood paneling throughout and a striking suspended ceiling with light features. Rock and finished timber feature walls, a grand fireplace and high-end furnishings add warmth to the facility.
Tile flooring was used in the entrance and mudroom areas of the lodge and the reception desk includes glass finishes. Vinyl plank flooring throughout the common areas provides a warm and luxurious but heavy duty flooring solution.
Each dormitory wing includes a 350 square-foot living room with a wall mounted 42” TV, comfortable leather sofas and tables, eating/poker tables, and a kitchenette. Walls that face the corridors and neighbouring rooms are staggered stud formation, helping minimize sound transfer to the bedrooms.
Bedroom finishes include birch ply built-in furnishings, a captain’s bed with two drawers and a headboard with a built-in reading lamp, blackout curtains, a wall mounted 26” television and a mini-fridge.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Low-flow toilets were used throughout the lodge. Large windows allow natural light to enter the buildings, minimizing the use of lighting during daytime hours.
