Architectural Excellence : This popular new hotel has many repeat guests that stop here on their route through the Province. Owned and operated by the Burns Lake First Nation, the building complemented a neighboring gas bar and local store, while strengthening community income and employment for the First Nation.
Leading into the hotel, First Nations carvings guide guests to the entry and represent the main families in the community. The building was sited in a way that creates a greater view of the surrounding area for guests and visibility of the hotel from the highway to attract potential customers.
Inside the lobby, the vaulted lobby ceilings act as a cultural discovery centre with local historical artifacts and community art pieces on display. The heavy timber features are reflective of the area heritage.
The hotel boasts 42 guest rooms, a breakfast café, a gym and business centre. The two-storey space in the entry allows guests on the second floor to have views towards the entrance lobby.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : To save money, the site work started the same time that off-site construction took place. Using these methods, it only took 7 months from production to occupancy. This allowed the customer to open their doors faster and start cashing in on their ROI that much sooner.

Technical Innovation : Due to a limited water supply in the area, the building was designed to reduce the use of water. An example of this includes increasing the fire rating of the walls to lessen the number of in-room sprinklers required.
In order to reduce site works, we maximized pre-construction in our manufacturing facility – including building stairwells off-site.
LED lighting was incorporated around the exterior entry and timber features of the building to create an ambient welcoming lighting experience when entering the hotel in the evening.
The hotel was designed and sited so that it can be expanded in the future, including the ability to add an additional wing.
