Meadowridge School Expansion
Additional Info
Award Winner : Metric Modular
Architectural Excellence : Meadowridge is an independent school serving students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 and their continued expansion plans required the need for more buildings. This project started as a standard placement of modular buildings but in the spirit of excellence portrayed by the school, they augmented the project by creating a cover outdoor play area between the modules with an architecturally pleasing roof structure and finished the exterior with a stucco finish that allows these buildings to naturally fit in with all the adjacent structures on site.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The cost effectiveness of this project is primarily driven from the fact that these are buildings that were re-used from a previous project, allowing for a competitive starting point for the building project.

Technical Innovation : The ability for the modules to arrive on site mid-summer and allow the school to open in mid-September could not have been achieved if not for a modular solution. The school was in operation while the finishing touches were completed on site. The shape of the modular buildings allowed them to be positioned on site in such a way to facilitate the “U” shaped outdoor space, critical for the students in the primary grades using the buildings in the wet west coast climate. In addition to that, because the total building consists of four separate buildings joined together, sound attenuation is excellent due to additional material and air gaps between buildings.
