Architectural Excellence : In the ever expanding necessity for a more conventional commercial appearance, the Cenovus Energy Operations and Training Center (OTC) was designed to provide an immediate solution for space usage as well as an expansion capability for an additional two stories. The OTC office is equipped with design considerations for future vertical expansion by the integration of structural steel framework along with all mechanical, electrical and architectural components prepared for expansion.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : The provision in design required the OTC office to integrate isolated operation with minimal utility usage. The self contained heating, domestic water, sanitary sewer and electrical systems alleviate the need for remote utility connections. In order to take advantage of the energy efficient options 90% efficient sealed combustion furnaces and 80% efficient direct vent hot water tanks were utilized.

Technical Innovation : The function of the field office is to provide live communication from isolated areas to the sand extraction head office and that distance is formidable. The module is complete with smart technology to allow for satellite and radio communication that is integrated in the factory providing high speed communication in any location. In order to accommodate future expansion, the foundation consists of galvanized screw pilings driven to a torque protocol to accept the future structural load.
