Architectural Excellence : The exterior of the kitchen core was designed to be aesthetically pleasing and functional. Stone skirting surrounds the entire exterior of the building, above which an attractive and one of a kind exterior metal cladding was installed. The exterior metal was custom designed for these modules, and is a one of a kind sight in the camp world. It was the first time this exterior design was implemented, and the results have been impressing energy company executives and camp residents since the installation. The dining facility at the Wolverine camp incorporates a 120’ wide square dining space. The redesigned room allows for more access doors, which creates a more convenient flow of traffic in and out of the facility. The dish washing complex attached to the side of the dining room frees up space in the actual dining room for workers to move freely. The area for lunch pick up is large and fully equipped, making it easy for those living at the camp to quickly and easily grab their lunches.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Within the building’s design, all systems have been streamlined and all materials used to create a structure that requires minimal maintenance. This ensures that the unit’s full performance can be achieved, regardless of where it is used or who is using it. The coolers and freezers that were installed into the unit were chosen for their energy efficiency, and result in decreased operating costs. Similarly, the efficient design of the kitchen’s back end allows for further cost savings in MUA and additional materials.

Technical Innovation : It took expert craftsmanship and technical skill to install a structure that could accommodate power supply MUA controls that had been altered to allow for fluctuations and variances in power consumption. Alta-Fab also collaborated with a metal supplier to determine which sidings should be chosen to produce a structure that looked attractive (with hidden fasteners and a smooth metal finish) and could effectively keep the elements out. Additional innovations were required in the design and implementation of the dining areas open concept. Creating a space that could accommodate high traffic flows and heavy wear and tear required structural enhancements throughout the units.
