Architectural Excellence : National energy client wanted a relocatable office building to serve as template for future sites in U.S. The façade incorporates the needs of the military base while resolving their desire for a visual presence off-base. Accented colors and orientation takes advantage of sight lines to highway, material & contractor flow on secure site. A parapet roof design with scuppers, downspouts, vertical siding & raised entry create a permanent look to structure. The exterior split faced wainscot Texas limestone finishes enhance the building & meets LEED-based sustainable criteria. The 12’ sloped atrium has multiple window transoms. Interior space includes 9 ft ceilings, 100-person training/conference room, huddle rooms, offices, locker & restroom facilities. The layout allows non-employees with own restrooms & card readers for extra security while securing sections for employees. Interior finishes include sustainable high-end tile, porcelain and solid surface counter finishes. Cascading masonry
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The jobsite was already improved and asphalted, so minimizing site disturbance was a key factor in this design build project. Our design team was fully integrated in the client’s civil and geotechnical design process. The final design utilized CMU block piers and poured concrete footings which saved the owner nearly $150,000 in site & storm water management reductions. The Design-build approach met project demands for high end finishes, sustainable materials and energy saving practices combined with the ability to relocate and expand the building in the future saved substantial money to the client for future development.

Technical Innovation : The increased energy efficiency of the building’s envelope solved the increased energy requirements of the Client’s program and Energy Codes. The mill-finish aluminum windows and doors combined with highly efficient tinted energy saving glazing and building overhangs protect the interior from the seasonal heat gain found in the south Texas location. The high reflective white membrane roof added energy savings as well. The entire structure has state-of-the-art digital communications, IT, data transfer and security systems appropriate for this level of client and their industry leadership in the energy sector. All light is high efficiency LED assemblies inside and out with appropriate controls.
