Architectural Excellence : Our client wanted a no-frills modular office at their rural facility but insisted it "not look like a trailer." We exceeded the client’s aesthetic requirements with a custom trussed roof, gabled and recessed entry bay accentuated with attractive exterior light fixtures and double glass entrance doors. The building was sheathed with blue HardiePlank siding and topped with grey asphalt shingles to be consistent with the client’s branding and also mirror the multiple large format grain tanks on site. Numerous oversized windows were used to maximize daylight and enhance the productivity and comfort of those occupying the space.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : We have lowered the heating cost for our client with the improved insulation value and low e windows. The roof was built on site which limited transportation costs. We also used our standard specifications for the interior to eliminate customization costs.

Technical Innovation : To improve the building’s energy efficiency, extra insulation was blown-in, giving it an R20 insulation rating versus the standard R12. The large Jeld-wen builder’s series vinyl-framed windows not only increase the natural light into the building but also have a low-emissivity coating to reflect long-wave energy back to the source. We used TYPAR building wrap to prevent condensation and a 6 mil poly vapor barrier on exterior walls to discourage mold growth, both improving the longevity of the building. Interior wall studs were upsized to 2 x 6 (vs. standard 2 x 4) and were also fully insulated.
