Cost Energy Effectiveness : Special care was required in the selection of materials for the job to satisfy the requirement of the lodge to be of premium quality with a 30 year lifespan, yet to stay within the budget. Spatial design also allowed the use of the spaces to be multi-purpose and therefore adding to the cost effectiveness of the building by being able to use it for multiple purposes. Technical Innovation : The building design presented several technical challenges to accommodate the large spans, clerestories and open concepts. The solution was to incorporate modular building and panelized construction with post and beam influences. Special connection details had to be developed along with unique consideration given to the installation of the components due to constricted working area on the job site. State of the art kitchen equipment was incorporated to reduce the foot print of the kitchen facility as well as accommodate the future expansion of the lodge without having to add further modules. The selection of kitchen equipment, dual low-flush toilets and energy efficient lighting all were incorporated to improve sustainability and lower overall utility consumption. The lodge incorporates state of the art RFID card system, individual WIFI routers in every room allowing Facetime & PPV movies to work seamlessly as well as host HD video conferencing capabilities in the executive boardrooms.
