Award Winner : Black Diamond Group
Architectural Excellence : The company was approached with very specific requirements and a demanding timeline to provide a multi-functional space suitable for accommodating a collaborative team of engineers, contractors, consultants, inspectors, and administration staff in a remote environment in Northeastern British Columbia. The project needed to include offices, workstations, training rooms, private washrooms, and lunchrooms. The company developed a solution which included several custom built office complexes, lunchrooms, first aid buildings, and lavatories, all accompanied by multiple 5,000 gallon water and sewage systems. In total, the accumulative building scope surpassed 36,000 square feet.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : For this project, the company teamed up with the client to share resources and to utilize as tight of a space as possible for our building site plan. As the flow of the overall project worked, the company was the first to use the site crane as plant construction use of it did not begin until after their offices had been installed. The company will also be the last use of the plant construction crane as they will move these units out prior to demobilizing the site crane. This collaboration resulted in cost-savings and seamless installation for the company and their client. It will also allow for smooth relocation once the site is decommissioned.

Technical Innovation : The relocatable structure provided a turnkey office solution for a Canadian energy producer. The soundproof multi-functional layout allows for collaboration across all the departments and a productive plus efficient work site. The 36 foot by 30 foot training room was built specifically for the site, lending to the collaborative and seamless work environment. Land on gas plant sites is extremely valuable, resulting in buildings packed in as closely together as allowable by code and the pad area right to the edge of the land being utilized. The installation, to result in as small a footprint as possible, required the installation team to crane modules onto temporary foundations.
