Suncor Energy Field Office
Additional Info
Award Winner : Northgate Industries Ltd.
Architectural Excellence : Suncor Energy required a mobile office with the ability to act as an intermediate field office providing front line, live data from remote areas to the field operations command center. It is a minimum requirement not to exceed a specific sizing template to allow for movement on restrictive transportation routes. The field office is basic in trims and finishes that include hard wood cabinets, stainless steel appliances, residential plumbing fixtures and furnishings coupled with a completely functional office environment. The main design consideration is mobility, steel framework, floor, wall and roof framing systems and all mechanical, electrical and architectural components integrated as one internal system.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The provision in design required the field office to integrate isolated operation with minimal utility usage. The self contained heating, domestic water, sanitary sewer and electrical systems alleviate the need for remote utility connections. In order to take advantage the energy efficient options 90% efficient sealed combustion furnaces and 80% efficient direct vent hot water tanks were utilized.

Project Location City : Fort McMurray
Project Location State Name : AB
Technical Innovation : The function of the field office is to provide live communication from isolated areas to the sand extraction head office and that distance is formidable. The module is complete with satellite and radio communication that is integrated in the factory providing high speed communication in any location. The lack of access to basic utility services is problematic and is alleviated by equipping the module with self contained potable, power, fuel storage system and sanitary sewer.
