Architectural Excellence : Last winter Hershey Park began a major renovation to their water park in central Pennsylvania. In order to keep the look of their theme park fresh and have the ability to change design configurations they wanted a building that could be moved around the park as needed. A relocatable modular building was a perfect solution to the requirement considering the flexibility of modular buildings. The building arrived ready to accept the construction site with minimal disruption to surrounding projects. The single 14’ x 44’ unit incorporated (2) separate exam rooms, (1) office, a waiting area and a restroom. The exterior of the building specified Hardie Lap siding. The single slope roof pitch and Hi Ribbed steel matched architecture of permanent buildings throughout the park. The exterior was specifically designed with a water theme. It was painted bright blue and draped with fishing net and nautical lanterns. Beach chairs were lined in front of the building facing the kids splash zone.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The modular building constructed by Whitley East, LLC. of PA along with the pre-fabricated access systems by Up Side Innovations accomplished the speed to occupancy requirement of the project while staying within the cost parameters to accomplish the task. Utilizing a relocatable building and access systems in a theme part with progressive design changes reduced future construction costs. The axles and tires remained on the building in anticipation of the reuse. The modular was set in place in a day and quickly became part of the parks landscape and one heaviest trafficked building in the facility. This relocatable building will comfort numerous children with bumps, bruises and skinned knees.

Technical Innovation : The single most important requirement of this relocatable building was the water proof design of the products. The exterior was painted with a water proof acrylic. The windows had low e argon filled to cut down on the reflection of the sun on the water. The pre-fabricated access systems were a key player in the success of the project with its ease of being able to relocated. The access ramp was trimmed with a unpainted wood lattice to match fencing near the site. The inside walls were fiberglass reinforced plastic for ease of cleaning. The floor had painted epoxy with integral seamless cove base rounded up onto the walls. The single unit was also designed with (1) 2.5 HVAC the 14’ side. Each exam room was equipped with a rolling supply cart, patient’s table, waiting chair, sink for the medical professional, towel, soap and sanitizing hand cleaning dispenser.
