Architectural Excellence : This classroom building was designed and built for a private school with a growing student population with input from parents and staff, the design intent was to develop a flexible high quality learning environment for the students. With more window area and higher ceilings than typical classroom buildings and the large double doors connecting the teaching spaces the feel of the space is open and relaxed in keeping with the teaching philosophy of the school while still being respectful of a limited budget.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : With more window area to improve daylighting in the learning space, insulation values of R-25 in the floor, R-19 in the walls and R-30 in the roof, Energy Star windows with Low-E glazing, T-8 florescent lights with electronic ballasts and heat pumps for the HVAC system this building is very efficient to operate. The exterior siding materials are readily available common materials installed in a manner that provides uniqueness and personality to the building at minimal additional cost to the owner while the interior finishes were selected for ease of maintenance and ability to provide long term value.
