Winnipeg STARS Air Ambulance Command Centre
Additional Info
Award Winner : ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd.
Architectural Excellence : The two units were taken from the main floor of a three- storey office complex, and thus required some modifications to be used as the STARS Air Ambulance Command Centre. The interior was completely remodeled to include office space, a lunch room, washrooms and a laundry area. The interior drywall was covered with vinyl to offer durability and longevity. New cabinetry in the kitchen and washroom was installed to provide ample storage.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The exterior wall insulation was increased from R12 to R20, and the new roof cavity was insulated to between R32-R40 to regulate interior temperatures, reducing HVAC costs. Exterior siding from the original three-storey complex was reused in the command centre, reducing renovation costs.
